The Product

Cyanotone

A sustainable, cyanobacteria-based alternative to peptone and tryptone — engineered for professional microbiological applications.

A next-generation nitrogen source for growth media

Cyanotone is a cyanobacteria-based peptone and tryptone substitute developed for professional microbiological applications. It is produced from Spirulina platensis (Arthrospira platensis) — a fast-growing, photosynthetic microorganism with an exceptionally high protein content of 60–70% by dry weight.

Peptone and tryptone are essential components of microbiological growth media, providing the complex nitrogen and amino acid profile that bacteria, fungi and other microorganisms require to grow under laboratory conditions.

The existing market is dominated by animal-derived products with a significant environmental footprint. Cyanotone offers a clean, sustainable, and high-performance alternative — with no compromise on lab-grade results.

Why choose Cyanotone?

Six reasons why forward-thinking laboratories are making the switch.

🌱

Fully Vegan & Sustainable

Free from all animal-derived ingredients. Cyanotone is produced from cyanobacteria — a renewable, rapidly growing microorganism with minimal land and water requirements.

💨

CO₂ Fixation

Spirulina fixes CO₂ directly from the atmosphere during cultivation, making Cyanotone production net positive in terms of carbon impact — a genuine sustainability credential.

⚗️

No Harsh Chemicals or Enzymes

Our proprietary downstream process uses no enzymes or harsh chemicals, resulting in a clean, consistent product with reliable batch-to-batch quality.

📉

Lower Cost-In-Use

The 40% efficiency gain means you use significantly less Cyanotone per litre of growth medium, effectively offsetting the per-kg cost versus conventional alternatives.

🏅

Carbon Credit Eligible

Organisations using Cyanotone may be eligible for carbon credit programmes, leveraging the CO₂ fixation credentials of Spirulina-based production.

🔒

Supply Chain Stability

Unlike animal-derived peptones subject to feed cost volatility and supply disruption, Cyanotone benefits from stable, predictable raw material pricing.
